BEASTMODE

HOMETOWN HERO 🖤

Marshawn Lynch called it a career on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7, 2016, announcing his retirement in true “Beast Mode” fashion: quietly, without a press conference, just a tweet and a peace sign.

But when news broke that his hometown team, the Oakland Raiders, would be relocating to Las Vegas in 2020, something shifted. Lynch answered a call to represent his city one last time before it lost its team.

He came out of retirement with a purpose. As Lynch put it, he wanted “the kids in Oakland to see a hometown kid play for his hometown team.” A final act of love for the Town, by one of its own.
