I guess we’re having this conversation.

Let me share some truth:
It’s been almost a decade where I stopped being vocal about being a Ghanaian. Especially when introducing myself to other Ghanaians. I just say I grew up there and leave it at that because if I claim to be a Ghanaian, I am met with denial and reluctance because of my physical features, and find myself having to put on a show to prove my heritage. It gets tiring. It gets exhausting. Therefore, I keep it to myself and my close circle. It’s refreshing to see the positive reception received, and it is a feeling that I’ve dearly missed.

My first impression of this world from the day I was born was everything Accra had to offer.

My life revolved around playing soccer in GIS, swimming / boogie boarding in Labadi Beach, pool days at Golden Tulips and sports day at El Wak stadium. Not to mention weekend outings with school friends that always involved a delicious burger from Frankies! There are endless experiences that are too long to share here. I would love to hear your fondest memories of growing up in Ghana. ❤️ 🇬🇭
