For 422 days, Ronen and Orna Neutra held onto hope. Hope that their 21-year-old son, Omer Maxim Neutra would return to them. They believed he was being held hostage, like so many others, after the horrific attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
Today, that hope is shattered. The IDF confirmed that Omer was killed during the October 7 attack, and his body was taken into Gaza. To this day, his body remains in Hamas captivity alongside six other Americans.
We failed Omer.
We failed his family.
And each day that passes, we fail the remaining hostages and their families.
May Omer Neutra’s memory be a blessing. May his name inspire us to do better, to demand justice, and to ensure that no family endures this unbearable pain again.

76The ceasefire goes into effect at 4:00 AM Israel time. During the initial 60-day period, IDF troops will gradually withdraw from Lebanese territory; the Lebanese army will deploy in southern Lebanon and will force Hezbollah to disarm south of the Litani River.
Israel retains the right to self-defense if Hezbollah or any other armed group violates the agreement.
