'Free Spirit'

For a while I've been really wanting to experiment with movement and composition in my equestrian pieces which can be really hard to do with coloured pencils as it's such a precise medium.

Obviously the plus points are that you can get soo much detail in but it can be tricky to give the illusion of movement.

Nevertheless, I really enjoyed working on this piece. Drawing someone thing 'face on' is a challenge in itself so it's important to really pay attention to shapes and values more than details to ensure it doesn't look flat.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this piece... the original is available and also I've released a very small run of limited edition prints 🤍✍🏼✨

I've recently given my studio space a complete glow up and throughout this process, I had one goal in mind; to create a calming and aesthetic space for me to work.
