Wayne Edward Richards was born on October 14, 1987, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is of Ojibwe ancestry, and is a member of Gaa-gwekwekejiwang (Ebb and Flow First Nation).
His father, Wayne Edward Friesen, was 22, and his mother, Darlene Elizabeth Richards, was 29, at the time of his birth. He has seven brothers and five sisters, as an as two half siblings Darren and Skylar Friesen.
Wayne's childhood was filled with turmoil, as he was shifted between hinges within the foster care system.
