I remember the spirit hitting me so strongly as I read it, and I underlined “WHOLESOME RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES”.
I literally wrote in the margin “LAKE TRIPS” and decided no matter what happened.
My family would be a lake trip family!
I even told myself I would have to take a girl to the lake before marrying her to make sure she was legit!
Luckily @shelbyrgrant loved the lake!!
We probably bought a boat before it made sense financially…
Started coming to Powell whatever the cheapest way we could was…
But let me tell you…
Being at the lake the last few years with Shelby and watching our boys start to love it has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.
Nothing I have spent money on has created this type of ROI on life.
People say, “Boats are such a bad investment.” And I say, I feel bad for those people, and their kids.
Watching Heber learn to work and help the boys set stuff up…
Wanting to drive and be a part of the process…
Yelling “get the flag up” when someone falls…
Learning to push through falling and getting water up the nose over and over again trying to surf…
All just lessons and experiences I’m not sure how else we could get.
