Cecilie Holten

I have always felt like there’s so much more to do, to see outside of my country and I have always felt an enormous need to explore it all. Swimming has been my ticket to do it.
Having gone through a rough story in my swimming career with losing my mom, finding myself face to face with depression, overeating followed by a lot of weight gain and locking myself inside for months and months feeling hopeless. I reached a point where I decided to stop trying to be better for everyone else’s eyes, and instead do what I have always dreamed of.
Everyone’s power is found within and there’s no way to find it outside. Not in your teacher, coach, mom, dad, boyfriend or girlfriend, your power is yours and you are the only one capable of finding a way to let it shine.
I find my power whenever my body is moving through the water. More than being perfect or number 1 in a competition, my power lies with my will to swim, with how much the water makes my mind at ease, with the creativity swimming provides and with how powerful my body feels after hours of swimming and training. My power is within myself and I love having discovered it.
I believe that there isn’t a more powerful feeling than understanding and seeing what you are truly capable of, and I want

I have always felt like I don’t belong. From the color of my skin, the texture of my hair, the place I was born and the studies I have pursued. I have always felt out of place.
