Story Time: The Day I Went Viral

Waking up to a flood of beautiful comments and new followers was a pleasant surprise, all thanks to an unplanned, authentic moment caught on camera during a typical day at the salon.

With a TikTok creator @annimalblum in my chair, I anticipated capturing some cute content. However, she revealed a fear of getting her hair cut, evident through fidgety hands, difficulty relaxing, and heavy breathing during our consultation. Recognizing her need for attention and reassurance, I engaged her at eye level, ensuring mutual respect and comfort, a practice applicable to all first-time clients.

Despite our agreement on the haircut, she remained hesitant. In a spontaneous move, I demonstrated softening techniques on my own hair, which she captured on video. Her enthusiasm following this interaction led to a transformative experience for both of us.

Reflecting on this incident, I realized the importance of ensuring clients feel seen, heard, and validated. Salons serve as more than just places of fun; they offer sanctuary for rejuvenation and emotional support. As an empathetic stylist, I aim to enhance not only physical appearance but also clients' outlook on themselves and life.
