USABILITY DOES NOT EQUATE TO ACCEPTABILITY (THREADS vs TWEETER)
Last week, the battle between Threads and Tweeter shows clearly that the fact that people use a product daily doesn't mean they’ll not abandon it for what is perceived as more user-friendly and relevant if the opportunity presents itself.
Those who benefitted from Tweeter before the advent of Thread, but found it so effortless to ditch the app with reckless abandon, didn’t care about customer loyalty.
Everyone who jumped on Threads, including those who knew about Tweeter before now but weren’t compelled enough to get active there, bought into Threads so easily through outbound marketing, and social rave; We all have the Threads button screaming ‘click me’ on our Instagram profiles.
Tweeter was the place to be. Rave, trends, spaces, and captivating threads. All the community and brand-building activities were happening there but Zuck wasn’t going to back down after getting his $500 million offer declined in the bid to purchase Tweeter in 2008.
Tweeter did its best. Created spaces, introduced subscriptions, and added top security options to protect its users, but sometimes, what you call best is nothing more than a takeoff point for an unrelenting competitor, and that’s not a bad thing in business.
The die is cast, and there seems to be no backing down for Zuck but could this be the beginning of Tweeter’s End?
