14Here is a repost of our story to celebrate National Adoption Day!
We are Josh and Alicia Dougherty and we live outside Rochester, NY. We met in college where we both got our teaching degrees, and married soon after graduation in 2003.
During our 9 years of Infertility and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss we decided to embark on the Path of Foster Care Adoption.
We adopted Alex in 2011 when he was 5-years-old.
Six days later we found out we were pregnant with Zoey!
When Zoey had just turned 1 we were asked if we would adopt James from Foster Care. He was 6-years-old.
Two weeks after James moved in we found out we were pregnant with Dash!
The next year we were asked to take Foster Care placement of Jason and Jordan “for 5 days”. Well, 5 days turned into Forever and we eventually adopted the twins.
(You might hear us refer Dash, Jordan & Jason as “The Triplets”, since that’s how they’re being raised. But yes, we know they’re not actual triplets. Although they will argue with you if you say that!😅)
We gave birth to Bodhi Blaze in 2016, and Harlee Quinton Louise in 2018.
The next year we heard about a sibling group in a Residential Treatment Facility that were being split apart for adoptions. We advocated to keep them together and be their Adoptive Family in order for that to happen. We adopted Bree and Patrick in 2019. They were 8 and 11 years old at the time.
And then in the Spring o
14I spent Monday in LA at the Google Spruce Goose Hangar with @youtube learning the latest in Shopping Trends for Spring! Wayfair and Lowe’s were there to present on their top products and techniques. Plus @creativeartistsagency and @wme and @creatorlyfe gave some great insight into the agency aspect of digital creation. And it’s always reenergizing to mix and mingle with other influencers.
After that I had some time to waste before my redeye flights home so I stopped at Venice Beach to catch the sunset and walk around. It was definitely a Vibe!
