14From inside my humble tent, today I prepared fried bananas. This dish is inspired by the Mexican version of fried bananas. We love Mexico—its light dances, colorful clothing, and wide-brimmed hats. The music makes us imagine being there, as does the delicious dish. But we are here, in G.a.z*a. If I could travel to Mexico, I would love to visit the southern states where the Maya civilization thrives. That people resembles my own; both have faced invasions aimed at erasing indigenous populations. Yet the original people remain in our memories, inspiring us to endure. The Maya civilization has not vanished despite inv*asion, colo*nization, and geno*cide, and its people continue to preserve their customs and traditions. We Pales*tinians will endure too; just look into the eyes of these children, and I know we will not disappear. We will draw inspiration from indigenous peoples to find the meaning of survival ❤️🇲🇽

Last Eid was a time of pure joy and love. The day before Eid, we would excitedly go out to buy new clothes and stay up late with friends, sharing stories and laughter. On Eid day, the air was filled with the sound of prayers from the mosque, the scent of fresh meat being prepared and shared with neighbors. We dressed in our best, visiting relatives, and spending the afternoon in the warm company of friends. Our home was always clean and beautifully decorated, reflecting our happiness.
