It all started in undergrad, at UT Austin when I decided to switch my major to neuroscience. I fell in love with my very first neuro course and knew I had to get involved in research. I joined a lab at UT, and I worked on 5 different research projects studying learning and memory using FMRI.
I graduated with a BS in neuroscience from UT Austin as a Neuroscience Scholar and Graduate of Distinction for my research. From there I went directly into a Neuroscience PhD program at the University of Arizona, where I worked in a lab studying the neuropharmacology of drug addiction. I was doing my dream project, investigating the neural mechanisms underlying relapse to addiction.
While I was in my PhD, I also started the account most of you know me for- emonthebrain. It was never my plan to be a content creator.
As I learned about neuroscience and mental health, I started using my knowledge to heal my brain and completely changed my health, my mindset, and my life. Naturally, I wanted to share this with others because my goal in life is to serve others and elevate the vibration of the planet.
As my pages grew, it became increasingly difficult to do both the PhD & be a creator. I finished all of my PhD courses with a 4.0 GPA, had 2 years of Graduate-level research under my belt, and passed 2 qualifying exams. I was in a position to get my masters, so that’s what I did. There were oth
