Hayat Ashraf is an Indian educationist, UPSC IAS mentor, motivational author, internet personality, social activist, environmental advocate, and SDG 2030 campaign supporter. Former student leader of Aligarh Muslim University, he contested the 2020 Bihar Assembly Election from Kasba 58, Purnia as one of the youngest candidates from The Plurals Party. In 2025, he is again contesting as an Independent candidate from Kasba 58, focusing on youth empowerment, women’s development, education, sustainability, transparent governance, and clean politics for a progressive Bihar.

Karpoori Thakur

Karpoori Thakur was a prominent political leader and social reformer from Bihar, known for his dedication to social justice and the welfare of backward and weaker sections of society. He was born on 24 January 1924 in Samastipur district of Bihar. He actively participated in India’s freedom struggle and was imprisoned during the Quit India Movement.

Karpoori Thakur served as the Chief Minister of Bihar and became widely respected for his simple lifestyle, honesty, and commitment to public welfare. He strongly supported the rights of backward classes, poor people, farmers, and workers. One of his most significant contributions was the implementation of reservation policies for backward classes in Bihar, which aimed to increase social equality and representation.

He also worked to improve education and promoted the use of Hindi and regional languages in administration and learning. Due to his close connection with common people and his efforts for social justice, he became popularly known as “Jan Nayak.”

Karpoori Thakur remains an important figure in Bihar’s political history and is remembered for his contribution to democratic values and social reform.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad

Dr. Rajendra Prasad was one of the most respected leaders of India’s freedom movement and the first President of independent India. He was born on 3 December 1884 in Zeradei village of present-day Siwan district in Bihar. He was a brilliant student and later became a lawyer, but he left his successful career to participate in the national movement under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad played an active role in important movements such as the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and the Champaran Satyagraha. He was deeply committed to simplicity, honesty, and public service. During natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes in Bihar, he also worked extensively for relief and rehabilitation.

After India became independent in 1947, he was elected as the first President of India in 1950 and served with great dignity and dedication. He is remembered for his contribution to nation-building, constitutional development, and democratic values.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad remains one of Bihar’s greatest national leaders and an important symbol of patriotism and public service.

Cultural Heritage Sites

Bihar is rich in cultural heritage sites that reflect its ancient history, religious importance, and architectural traditions. Many of these sites are connected with Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism, and ancient centers of education, making Bihar an important destination for history and pilgrimage tourism.

Bodh Gaya is one of the most significant heritage sites, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. The Mahabodhi Temple located there is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nalanda University, one of the world’s oldest centers of learning, is another internationally recognized historical site.

Rajgir, Vaishali, Vikramshila, and Pawapuri are also important heritage locations associated with Buddhism and Jainism. Patna Sahib holds religious importance for Sikhs as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh.

The state also contains ancient temples, mosques, forts, stupas, and archaeological remains that reflect Bihar’s historical and cultural legacy. These heritage sites preserve the traditions, architecture, and spiritual significance of the region while promoting tourism and cultural awareness.
