Not only did I NOT grow up with dogs, I actually grew up afraid of them. It took years of passing by dogs at adoption events in the city for me to even think about petting a dog. And then, a switch flipped. I realized that they weren’t scary, they themselves were scared. And vulnerable. And they needed someone to be there for them.
I’m so glad that little girl grew up to be, not just a dog lover, but a rescue worker and animal welfare advocate. I’m so proud that she got over her fear 🥹

Fun Fact: I grew up terrified of dogs. I was always scared that a dog would bite me. Now I find myself shoving my hand down my dogs’ mouths to stop them from eating pieces of socks.

Our wedding at that little rooftop garden at Rockefeller Center overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral feels like a lifetime ago and yesterday all at the same time. Who knew all of this love, adventure, and loss would be ahead of us when we said “I do” three years ago. But that day was a promise that it took me a lot of time and hardship for me to fully understand — that together, we can get through anything.
I think back to when I used to stress about the little things, although they didn’t seem little at the time — walking all of the dogs, getting a workout in, making it to dinner on time — and my husband would tell me, “We can do anything together.” I don’t think either of us knew how big that “anything” would become. From traveling the world, to navigating a (sometimes) long-distance marriage, to learning how to live with grief — we’ve done it, together.
From making wishes at the Trevi Fountain to drinking sangria in Spain, from rushing for the last PATH train back to Jersey City to holding me as Betty

From being afraid to being their voice 🐾

Happy #NationalDogDay to all of my little loves 😍 There is no place I’d rather be than with them — being their human pillow or giving them belly rubs and kisses. They drive me crazy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’ve been at a loss for words lately — I know it doesn’t seem like it with my long-winded Instagram captions — but if there’s one thing I can still find the words for, it’s gratitude. This past year has been the hardest for myself and my husband: finding our footing living between Jersey City and Nashville, seeing the world together (six countries in one year!), and saying goodbye to our precious baby girl, Betty.
