Jae Noir

I am Jae LeNoir, a filmmaker, writer, historian, creative director, and co-founder of Magnum Opus Films. My work explores hidden histories, Black identity, genealogy, incarceration, and cultural memory through documentary storytelling and archival research.

I created Know Thyself, a documentary series with over 1 million collective views, and directed Where I Got My Name: Down in Mississippi. My work won Best Short Film at the 2022 Gumbo Lab Film Festival, was selected for the 2026 Silicon Valley African Film Festival, and I was selected for the 2026 Film Independent Documentary Story Lab.

I am also a prison reform advocate committed to challenging historical erasure and preserving overlooked stories.
