10There’s a lot of buzz (and fear) right now about AI "taking over" the interior design world. And I get it — the technology is fast, impressive, and evolving daily. In fact, I just used AI to help me visualize a kitchen I'm currently designing. It helped me quickly bring some concepts to life — from cabinet finishes to layout flow — in a matter of minutes.
But here’s the thing: no matter how smart or speedy AI is, it still can’t feel. It can’t walk into a space and sense what’s missing. It doesn’t see a client’s subtle hesitation or light up with them when they describe their dream space.
Design is emotion made tangible. It’s empathy, intuition, and foresight wrapped into beautiful, functional form. That kind of connection — the ability to truly foresee a client's needs and translate them into a space that nurtures them — is something only a human can do.
That said, AI is an incredible tool. It can help us save time, generate fresh perspectives, and spark creativity in ways we might not have thought of on our own. When we use it with our instincts, not instead of them, the results can be extraordinary.
So no, AI isn’t replacing interior designers — but it might just become our newest design assistant. 😉
