I’ll be honest it’s been pretty weird not competing in sports recently…
I spent over the last decade training two-day workouts grappling with some of the baddest dudes on the planet from NCAA champs to UFC fighters and mixed martial artists from all walks of life.
Every day is a battle and suffering is a natural part of the sport. It’s you Vs you day in and day out, because someone on your team is coming for your spot or an opponent is coming for your ranking.
Every year I was the guy cutting 20 pounds or more, reading sports psych books, experimenting with nutrition/supplements, trying to gain any competitive advantage I could. I had to stay consistent, raw talent wasn’t going to get me there. I struggled with nerves, and failed a lot. Many times I almost quit. But everyday I woke up with a definitive aim.. making the NCAA finals.
My best personal success finally came 5 years into collegiate wrestling, and I can look back on my career proud because I stayed with it. I was at @russellbrunson FHL conference and he talked about the idea of having a definite aim in the very beginning, and believed this was the starting point to all successful endeavors. @secretsofsuccess
