this scholarship is important to me because i have wanted to be a Morehead
Cain scholar since i was 15
' i missed
my chance to apply in high school... i hadn't yet accomplished what i needed in order to qualify Ā® i was still struggling with my eating disorder & hadn't yet found the confidence to fully embrace my uniqueness & creativity
however, these past 2 years since high school have been a whirlwind for me e
* i have grown my 6-year old crochet business @shoppurplepear to go viral, sell out, & reach hundreds of millions of people worldwide @ i received the Spark Jr Award from the Better Business Bureau of Eastern NC S & i almost have half a million followers ?!?
collaborated with @dove to share my eating disorder story with 48 million people all over the globe
watching my
film play in theaters across the US. broadcast on TV, win the Golden Lion award at the Cannes Film festival, & even get nominated for an Emmy has been an incredibly meaningful & healing experience ā
* i have been able to empower others to start their personal finance journeys through @moneywithmary, amassing 150k+ followers who follow my educational platform s) i was awarded the 2022 BMTX financial empowerment.
147i had the privilege of meeting Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona, to discuss what the future of higher education looks like in our country ā¢ by reducing financial barriers to college, more individuals can pursue advanced learning, leading to a more educated nation this can lead to improved public health, increased civic engagement, and a stronger democracy

on wednesday, i was invited to the White House to discuss our country's student loan debt crisis the immense cost of higher education presents a barrier to entry for lower income students, exacerbating socioeconomic disparities 4A reducing the amount of loans that people have to pay allows them to make decisions that are best for their personal and professional lives without being financially constrained %%
