While I can’t raise a puppy for everyone, I can help everyone raise a puppy. Book coming spring ‘24 from Celadon.

Also, it’s important to understand why Nicholberry Goldens look different than American type Golden Retrievers, and how to choose a breeder whose English type Goldens are actually healthy. Color does not denote health.

All Goldens descend from the same foundations that originated in Scotland in 1868 (thank you Lord Tweedmouth!). The Golden Retriever breed ranges from very light to very gold, and while there tend to be more Goldens in the lighter shades overseas, there are plenty who are rich shades of gold. If you look back in the pedigrees of any of our dogs, those gorgeous gold dogs are there (and you can see it popping through in Rufus’ coat - just beautiful).

But it’s essential to keep in mind that color is just one ingredient of a multi-ingredient pie. Don’t buy a puppy based on color alone. Understand the breed standard (the GRCA website has fabulous information) & make sure that the parents conform to that breed standard, as that’s where health comes from. Including size!

Why does this matter? Because a lot of unscrupulous people take advantage of buyers by claiming that their “English Cream Golden Retrievers” are rare or are radically healthier than “regular” Golden Retrievers. By understanding the breed standard & what actually comprises a Golden Retriever, you guys will be able to avoid purchasing what is actually a poorly bred dog.
