They say “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone….” But I knew what I had.

I had the BEST dad.

April 14, 2014 I got the phone call that changed life. I waited for my dad to meet me for his birthday & he never showed….. I was so confused but never would I have expected that he was gone…. my yearly felt like it crumbled at that moment… the world didn’t seem real & has felt different since.

My father was my best friend through he didn’t live with me growing up … so at 19 I was SO excited to finally build a closer bond but then at 44 he was just gone…. No goodbye. No clue why . I got news at school & felt frozen. It was unreal ….like a part of me died too at first and could feel it happening in real time… but as time went on, I realized my dad left the best parts of himself here with me. All I can do is live through you.
I know we will meet again in a better place but it still hurts you had to go so soon. I love & miss you so much. But man… Happy birthday. I’ll make you proud. Never stop being good . Never stop being kind. I’ll always go after my dreams like you taught me. I always believed I was a superstar because you told me I was. I promise to never give up. I promise to always be strong or at least as strong as I can be . To push myself as hard as you would. But to also be kind to myself and others the way you were .
