When I was 8 years old and asked who I wanted to be when I grew up, I replied, ‘I want to be the best.’ When pressed for a profession, I boldly declared, ‘All professions.’
Reflecting on that moment now, I realize the profound naïve wisdom in my youthful words.
Nevertheless throughout my journey from boyhood to manhood, one trait has defined my path: a relentless pursuit of excellence. Everyone who knows me, will attest to that. Aside from being a fighter, all my previous jobs, whether in club security, construction work, cleaning gyms, coaching, or even assembling BBQ grills at Sears, I’ve always strived to be the best in everything I do. When putting boxing gloves 🥊 I wanted to KO Mike Tyson, putting the Gi 🥋 on for Jiu Jitsu I wanted to submit Marcelo Garcia, lacing up my wrestling 🤼 shoes I was imagining to pin Mr. Saitiev. Always my goal has remained the same: to be the best, no matter the endeavor. Embracing this mindset has taught me that the journey itself is as valuable as the destination.
