Chol Hamoed (literally, “the weekday of the holiday”) refers to the “intermediate period” of the festivals of Passover and Sukkot. They are the days sandwiched between the beginning and ending holy days of both festivals.
Many parents take off work and spend the 4 days going on family outings. It's still holiday for us so we are required to eat in a sukka and bless the Lulov and Esrog but we are permitted to do work and use electronics, our phones and drive cars.
My wife and I took the girls to R & J farms in Galloway New Jersey to do the corn maze , hayrides and collect their own pumpkins.
I must say if you're looking for quality time with your kids, do a corn maze and get lost for an hour or two 😅

As I walk through the forest of pictures and tributes to those who were taken captive or slaughtered in this very place, it is hard to believe that this was the site of a festival.
That terrible day, Oct. 7, would later be termed “Black Sabbath,” when some 1,200 people in over 20 communities in southern Israel were slaughtered, many after being raped, brutalized, and maimed.
The smiling faces of these young and beautiful souls is a stark contract to the blood soaked soil that this Forest of faces is planted in.
Am Yisrael Chai, May we sing again.

After October 7th, many artists and family members of the hostages came here to create expressions of their pain and grief while hoping for their loved ones to be freed from Hamas captivity.
Some exhibits send messages of logging and hope while others express a sense of darkness and dread.
Here are a few pictures of some of the displays we saw during our visit.

Our family and many other jewish families have the tradition of going on. A Chol Hamoed Trip during Sukkot (and Passover).

This is the site of the Nova festival massacre on Oct 7th.

Visiting Hostage Square outside the art museum in Tel Aviv was very difficult.
After October 7th, many artists and family members of the hostages came here to create expressions of their pain and grief while hoping for their loved ones to be freed from Hamas captivity.
