I'm sitting in Newark airport with an iced cappuccino at my wrap party for one, and I honestly don't know where to start, or how to put into words what has happened over the last 17 days. I know, as a writer, I should find this easy but in many ways it's impossible to fully capture the excitement, the warm welcomes, amazing locations, the exhaustion, heat, kindness, generosity, emotion, cute dogs, amazing booksellers, wonderful co-hosts, enthusiasticย readers, the crazy drive back to Dallas Forth Worth airport, the hilarious madness of Vegas, or the size of the car/tank (aka The Beast) my husband hired in a mini crisis at Charlotte airport!
I'm not sure I really knew what I was embarking on when I set off from Ireland to New York with a mixture of nerves and excitement, but these past few weeks have exceeded all my expectations. I spent various stages of this tour with friends, strangers, my husband, family, and entirely alone, and yet I never felt alone at all. At every stage, my notifications were full of love for the book, excitement about events just finished and those yet to come, and I even had a Lego book launch in Dublin somewhere along the way!
To all the bookstores and libraries who hosted my events, all the authors and booksellers who so kindly hosted my conversations, and everyone who came along to meet me, I honestly cannot thank you enough and will never forge

Thank you so much to my publisher, HarperCollins and my editor @lynnedrew Thank you to An Post, to our category sponsors WHSmith and Ireland AM, to my husband (one of The Damiensโข) for being the perfect date and sharing in gracious loser face, to my bookends, Catherine Ryan Howard and Carmel Harrington, and everyone - especially the esteemed guests of the Tortured Writers Department, who made the night so special. As always, we were the last to leave. ๐
Give it up for the band! See you next time! ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐

What a night this showgirl had at the An Post @irishbookawards From start to end it was such a happy, fun, and glamorous night and although I didn't win the Popular Fiction award with Before Dorothy, I'm sure I came second! ๐๐ Many congratulations to Cecelia Ahern for scooping the award and bringing the win to our table!
