A good day on the trap line 🦫

This is the largest beaver i’ve ever trapped. My scale maxes out at 50 pounds, and this beaver just barely maxed the scale! Took some energy to pack him down river to my truck. He will make some great burgers, steaks, roasts, and rendered fat for cooking. The bones will make delicious, rich broth, and I will tan the fur for hats, mittens, or a coat. I will use the castor glands to make lure to trap more beavers to feed my family! So much to use on this beautiful animal.

The smaller critter in the first photo is a rock chuck, or yellow bellied marmot. I caught him as pest control in a local cattle pasture, but I will use his meat and fur too!
