I was pretty quiet on this, but this morning I woke up and felt like sharing it. The last 3 months i faced the biggest challenge of my life. After a diagnosis of Cancer in December I was operated on and Tuesday, I finished 2 months straight of Chemotherapy. I’m not gonna lie, this stuff is horrible and I have a new place in my heart for anyone who has to go through this either for themself or for a loved one. My fiancé @jesyjohnston was with me everyday, I can’t even express the amount of love I feel for her right now. I didn’t know it was possible to love someone this much and I don’t think I could’ve done this without her or my baby girl who I got to come home to everyday to keep me smiling. Ringing the bell means I’m done treatment, and now I wait for news of Remission in April. The doctors have told me there’s a very very good chance this nightmare is behind me, so now I just have to recover my body and my mind from what I just went through. If you’re out there living life to its fullest, keep going and don’t sweat the small stuff. Life is a precious precious thing. ❤️🔔🔔

I’ve never shared much about my life as Micky Kasablanca, but today feels like the right moment to open up at it…

Four years ago, I started a band during the pandemic called @kasablanca . Kasablanca was a place where I could express some of my more unconventional musical ideas that didn’t fit the Shaun Frank project and what began as a passion project quickly became my main creative focus. I decided to keep my identity a mystery; letting the music speak for itself.

Friday, we released side A of our debut album called Higher Resolution—a moment that means so much to me because of how incredibly difficult the past 12 months have been. Kasablanca almost crumbled in 2023, and then on top of that I was diagnosed with Cancer…and if I’m being honest, with all that on top of having a newborn, I almost threw in the towel…

But my amazing partner in this band, Viktor Kasablanca, who I’ve been writing music with for 20 years, stepped in and helped keep the musical vision on track and alive while I was operated on and injected with Litres of chemicals to save my life.

So you can understand, how for me, this album represents not only my rebirth, but the rebirth of Kasablanca. It’s a reflection on facing my own mortality and finding love for myself and the world again.
