Valdez Fly-in - Most EPIC Alaska Flight!

We flew our Mooney single-engine plane to the Bahamas for a spontaneous weekend getaway … and honestly, nothing compares to landing over turquoise waters and stepping straight into island time.
We cleared customs at Great Exumas International Airport — smooth process, friendly staff, and easy access to fuel. From there, we rented a villa right on the ocean, where mornings started with coffee by the water and evenings ended with pink Bahamian sunsets.
If you’re thinking about flying your own aircraft here are a few tips:
1. File your eAPIS early and double-check all customs paperwork for both legs of the trip.
2. Bring cash for small airport fees and tips….some places are still very local and relaxed.
3. Plan fuel stops carefully. Some islands have limited hours or fuel availability.
4. Book accommodations in advance…even small islands have beautiful villas that book up fast.
5. Pack light but smart…swimsuits, sandals, and a sense of adventure are mandatory.
Flying yourself to the Bahamas feels like freedom in its purest form…just you, the open sky, and endless shades of blue below. 🌊

The ATMOSPHERE at @krallerhof is pure alpine serenity.
An alpine sanctuary where architecture, nature, and wellness move in perfect harmony

12 years ago, I sat somewhere under this same sky, watching the sun disappear into the horizon…
just a girl traveling alone, counting every dollar, carrying more dreams than certainty.
I remember the feeling so clearly—
the loneliness that felt a little like freedom,
the excitement mixed with not knowing what my life would become.
Back then, I could never have imagined this version of my life.
The love I would find.
The family I would build.
The way everything would slowly fall into place in ways I didn’t even know to wish for.
Tonight, I watched that same sunset again—
but this time, I wasn’t alone.
And in that quiet moment, it all felt so surreal…
how life can take you so far from where you started,
only to bring you back…
just to show you how much has changed.
