Why I wouldn't become a copywriter in 2024

Sharing receipts and talking trash to haters

300 years ago, roughly 50% of all children died before the age of 15.
300 years ago children as young as four were commonly employed in factories and mines.
300 years ago more than 80% of the world lived in extreme poverty (compared to less than 20% today).
300 years ago 85% of Europe's population were serfs.
The list goes on and on. And it doesn't stop at 300 years ago.
Have you heard of The Flynn Effect?
Since the 1950s the average American's IQ has raised by 3 points per generation.
They've seen similar effects for people in many cultures across the world.
Similar data exists for increases in average heigh since 1900 (due to better nutrition).
Going back to childhood mortality...
Across the world the mortality rate was 165 deaths per 1,000 in children under 5 in the year 1900.
By 2021 the rate was 38 per 1,000 children under 5.
In the past century numerous diseases have been eradicated.
And even as the world's population has exploded from 1BN people to 7BN people...

Famines and resulting deaths have been nearly eliminated from human civilization.
None of this is to say things are perfect.
But when people idealize the past and lament the present, it shows a true and deep lack of understanding about history.
This is your time and you have zero excuse not to go seize the f**king day.
