I’ve been thinking lately about how the term “independent” has never really made sense to me.
Looking back at all “my” work over the years, it’s clear how deeply I’ve leaned on the people who’ve inspired and motivated me to move fearlessly, and faithfully, toward telling these stories through my eyes.
I’m starting to see myself less as an independent filmmaker and more as an interdependent one: someone who takes pride in collaboration, sets ego aside, and lets the idea—which has a life of its own—speak for itself.
We’re just the vessels.
