when I started making plans for the great barrier reef, everyone I talked to said you must to go check out the ancient daindree rainforest while you’re in the area. 🌧️🌳

we learned it is the oldest rainforest in the world (by far). also unique because it is classified as a world heritage site, right next to (and feeding) its neighboring world heritage site - the great barrier reef!

we took the @skyrailcairns (what us skiers would call a gondola) 🚡 up to the town of kuranda, stopping to explore barron falls on the way, and then took the scenic railway on the way back. 🚂

reservations for both the cable car and the train are required, and you can chose to go both ways on one or the other, or opposite of what we did. either way, be sure to book in advance. and prepare for a sweaty long adventure day - but it’s worth it! 😅
