Uchumi Reusable Sanitary Pads is a women-led social enterprise based in Busia County, Kenya, dedicated to addressing period poverty through the production and distribution of affordable, sustainable, and reliable reusable sanitary pads. Founded in 2024, Uchumi was created to respond to the challenges faced by girls and women who lack access to safe menstrual products, leading to school absenteeism, health risks, and loss of dignity.
Uchumi combines community-based manufacturing, last-mile distribution, and menstrual health education to create long-term impact. Our reusable pads are locally produced by trained women—many of them young mothers—creating income opportunities while ensuring quality and affordabilit
