l opened a book yesterday and the first thing I read was "pleasure is a natural human right." I know it sounds maybe obvious to some, but it hit me so hard.
I don't know if it's the way I was brought up or generational trauma, but I have always felt like I needed to earn pleasure.
Everything else in life, I must do - but for pleasure, I must earn. The funny thing is that the more I feel like I try to work for it, the less I'm able to feel it when pleasurable situations present themselves.
All that to say, l've decided to make pleasure my word for the year. I'm going to make myself look for a pleasurable opportunity at every chance I have.
Because otherwise, what are we here for?

Last week, I shared that pleasure is my word for the year, and the more l pay attention, the more I realize that pleasure isn't in the big, grand moments. It's in the small moments like these and comes when you're fully present. + I'm learning that presence isn't just about slowing down, it's about allowing yourself to enjoy what's already in front of you.
Still figuring it out, but I think this might be what true balance feels like.
