A true visionary & guiding light, Ximena was a devoted patron of the arts, a powerful voice for environmental justice and Indigenous rights, and an unwavering community builder through @metro1cre . Her philanthropic impact touched countless organizations, including Friends of the New World Symphony, Bass Museum, PAMM, ICA, YoungArts, wildpath, Path of the Panther, Amazon Watch, The Chopra Foundation, Cho Family Foundation, M1 Community, and many more.
This year Ximena was honored on Earth Day with the Visionary Earth Steward Award by Caminantes de la Nueva Tierra and Miami-Dade County. Her legacy endures through the Ximena Cho Legacy Fund, carrying forward her devotion to the Earth, to healing, and to a more compassionate, interconnected world.

What would it look like to build places that don’t just sustain life… but actively heal it?
Generation Regeneration explores regenerative placemaking as both a framework and a practice: reimagining cities as living ecosystems where community, culture, and nature work together to create long-term vitality and belonging.Â
This isn’t about perfection or utopia. It’s about participation. Prototyping. Learning together.
This book was not written alone. It was shaped through conversation, collaboration, and deep listening with an extraordinary network of practitioners, leaders, and community builders.
