Big League Chew

Big League Chew® was born in 1977 in the bullpen of Portland's Civic Stadium, when former Cornell lefthander Rob Nelson, with help from batboy Todd Field and Yankees All-Star Jim Bouton, dreamed up something simple: shredded bubble gum in a stay-fresh pouch.

The first batch was made by hand on Feb. 6th, 1979, Babe Ruth's birthday. Big League Chew hit shelves shortly after and instantly became a fan favorite across America.

Over four decades and one billion pouches later, it remains the only shredded bubble gum in the world, even enshrined in Cooperstown as the "Hall of Fame Bubble Gum™." From the little leagues to the bigs, Big League Chew is a home run.
