Fanatic. How to build a climbing gym

Two weeks ago, I spoke with Marcello Bombardi, fresh from trying a project in Switzerland (Wogü), and in great shape. He told me he’d like to try Egoland, so I invited him to join me — and that gave me a huge boost of motivation.
Yesterday, on my birthday, we went for our first ground-up attempt. I reached the 8c+ pitch feeling strong, but fell right near the end after the crux — my finger split open and started bleeding (due to my previous finger injury, which took me apart from training for two weeks coming here) Frustrating, knowing you can do it but just… don’t.
Then it was Marcello’s turn — and he fought all the way to send it. Bravo! 🎉
I thought about trying again, but chose instead to support him, and we alternated leads pitch’s all the way to the summit. My birthday gift: topping out and sharing in Marcello’s first repeat of Egoland.
Above all, climbing for me is about partnership, respect, and the shared experience.
Now — a few days of training, healing skin, and waiting for cooler temps.
✨ Never think in terms of who’s better or worse than you. The only question is: are you giving your best?! @sadhguru
I will be back!
Congrats again @marci_bomb 🐐

An ethical ascension, in a single attempt from the ground and without external help, living 28 days on the wall !!
Wait for an extraordinary mixture of beauty, emotion, and performance in this climbing movie.
The Huber brothers were the first to climb in free in 2009 and Edu performed the first repetition 15 years later, climbing all the pitches in free!
The full movie will be available the Petzl Sport youtube channel on December 8th.

Now, he’s introducing the Iberian Trilogy, Spain’s three hardest multi-pitch routes, as a challenge to the next generation. Marín names these routes as ‘Orbayu’ (8c/5.14b), ‘Arco Iris’ (8c+/5.14c), and ‘Donec Parficiam.’
“I chose the most beautiful and emblematic lines in Spain,” he tells Climbing. “The idea is to inspire a new generation of adventurers.”
Tap our link in bio to read about his ten-year journey to establish the Trilogy, the epic runouts on all three routes, and why Marín’s next dream involves falling with a drill in hand.

A few weeks ago, we arrived in Italy with one goal: to make the first repeat of Egoland 8c/+ (410m) in Marmolada. We spent days working on the route, figuring out sequences, cleaning, and marking the right holds — the wall is wild and raw.

On May 28, @edumarin1 made the first free ascent of ‘Donec Parficiam’ (5.14a/b), an 8-pitch route in Spain’s Mont-Rebei Gorge.
